While Fredericksburg is the center of the booming Texas wine industry, the Highland Lakes has its share of stunning and unique vineyards and wineries. The fields of vines, surrounding hills and beautiful tasting rooms will make you forget you’re just an hour from Austin. These are a few of the larger local wineries:

Fall Creek Vineyards at Tow – 1820 County Road 222, Tow, TX

This vineyard helped jumpstart the rebirth of Texas winemaking in the mid 1970s when the first grapes were planted in 1975 at the Tow location by Ed and Susan Auler. Fall Creek Vineyards is named after the gorgeous, spring fed Fall Creek which flows near the winery and empties into the Colorado River in a 90 foot waterfall on upper Lake Buchanan. Flat Creek Estate – 24912 Singleton Bend E., Marble Falls, TX
This 80-acre vineyard is located outside of Marble Falls, not far off of Ranch Road 1431, on the north shore of Lake Travis. It has a Tuscan-style tasting room, wine production facility and a bistro for fine dining. You can also visit its urban wine bar with wood fired pizza oven in Marble Falls – the Flat Creek Enoteca. Perissos Vineyard and Winery – 7214 Park Road 4 W, Burnet, TX
Perissos is a small, family-run vineyard and boutique winery located amidst acres of vines in the Texas Hill Country. 100% of the wines are made from Texas grown fruit. From the vineyard you can view another area attraction, Falkenstein Castle. (512) 820-2950

Torr Na Lochs Vineyard and Winery – 7055 W. State Hwy 29, Burnet, TX
Family run vineyard and winery that is located high above the Colorado River Valley, overlooking both Inks Lake and Lake Buchanan. A new addition to the Texas Hill Country wine scene, the first grapes were planted in 2014 and a beautiful tasting room has recently been completed.
